For more than thirty years, Sandra Charlap has plumbed her surroundings, experiences, and dreams to share her singular world view through painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, mosaics, micro-beading, jewelry, and other media.

Her work has been included in many group shows, most recently in The Newark Arts Festival 2022 hosted by the Newark Museum of Art, as well as solo shows at the former Gas Gallery in Maplewood, inclusion in Essex Exposed at the Pierro Gallery in South Orange, group shows at The Museum of Beadwork, Portland, Maine, and an upcoming show at the Wae Center of Livingston. Her work appears in many private collections both in the U.S. and internationally.

Sandra launched her career when she founded Sandra Levine Ceramics, designing and creating custom tabletop ceramics for noted department stores including Barney's, Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus, and ABC Carpet and Home. Her fanciful pieces have been featured in numerous national magazines including Metropolitan Home, Bon Appetit, Gourmet, New York Magazine, Studios, Art Direction, and The New York Times.

Sandra founded The Illustrated Pet in 2007, combining her loves of animals and watercolor painting to create custom, unique portraits that capture the essence of her subjects—to their owners' delight.

Sandra attended Parsons School of Design, where she earned a degree in illustration, and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in fine art with a minor in printmaking from Montclair State University.
